The Free Toolkit: Beta mode.
Designed for fundraisers fighting for justice at all skill levels, our tools range from supporting writing your first grant to advanced prospecting, so no matter where you are on your fundraising journey, you’re supported by the same tools we use with clients every single day, making high-level consulting level tools available to everyone. For free.

We designed this tool for clients who felt they didn’t fit the bill of traditional major donor officers. They felt real major donor officers were true extroverts ready to meet anyone at any time, who thrive in both coffee shops and board rooms.
In reality, most major donor officers don’t fit that description. The Major Donor Style Quiz helps fundraisers figure out their authentic relationship building style so they can create meeting structures that work for them, not against them.
Across teams, it helps managers match donors with the right person to get them from a maybe to a yes.

No one wants to be a micro-manager, but we’ve all had a manager who swears up and down they’re not a micro-manager and … they are.
We assess your style using real-life scenarios to give you a sense of your management style across four key areas: hands on/hands off management, feedback style, strengths/deltas focused, and your systems.
When you know your management style, you can work to become the manager you want to be, instead of guessing if you’re living your values at work—more than that, you can match your style to what your staff need from you.
This quiz is meant to be used with our (for Managed Staff) version to help Managers meet the unique needs of their staff.

When Kirstie hires staff, she always tell them very clearly: she’s hands off. No really—super hands off. For some people, that level of unstructured work creates more stress than it does empowerment. But the people who love it? They LOVE it.
We assess your style using real-life scenarios to give you a sense of what management style you like across four key areas: hands on/hands off management, feedback style, main motivator, and management systems.
When you know what management style supports you, you can seek our managers with that style. This quiz is meant to be used with our (for Managers) version to help Managers meet the unique needs of their staff.

Not every fundraiser majored in statistics, but Google Sheets exists so you don’t have to. Our Key Performance Indicator Calculator (we lovingly call it the KPI Calc) allows you to plug in your numbers and find your key performance indicators, no math required (you’re welcome).
Use it.

For drive-style fundraising models and new projects that have narrow paths to funding, creating maps of the people everyone in the project knows is essential. We’ve created multiple templates on multiple platforms to help organizations do just that.
Use them.

Look. If you’re gasping because we’re giving you a template to do your major gifts outside of a database, we have some news: most of our clients do better, more consistent major donor work outside of a database. So we created both an Airtable (we prefer this, it’s free!) and Google Sheet template for you to use that works for us.

You don’t need fancy tools that cost thousands of dollars to figure out if someone might be a good prospect to increase their gift. You just need a Really Good Spreadsheet. Meant to be used in conjunction with our Major Donor Fundraising Lab, this tool is the same tool we use when we prospect for clients.

We don’t believe that one tool is the answer for everyone. It’s part of what we teach. But we do believe that for a lot of teams, project plans are really helpful dashboards to see who is doing what, when its due, and if you’re on target. We’ve made one for fundraisers who have to run campaigns like Giving Tuesday or End of Year fundraisers and we’ve loaded it into Airtable and Google Sheets for you to use.

A lot of foundations that accept seed funding grants have made it easy to apply for funding with question-based applications. Making the leap from those applications to free-form grants or LOIs can be daunting. The Grantwriters’ Toolkit makes it easy.

Meant to be used in conjunction with our Foundation Fundraising Seminar, this tool is the way we find new prospects for clients. No magic. No frills. Just smart list creation and hours and hours of digging through Foundation Directory, websites, and 990s.
